Vision & Values

A Court That Serves Every Family.

A Judge Accountable to the People.

The Probate Judge is the only judgeship in South Carolina elected directly by the people.

That is not a small thing. It means the community has a direct say in who leads this court — and it means the person in that seat answers to you, not an legislative appointment by the SC General Assembly.

Tamara Curry does not take that responsibility lightly. As Charleston County's Probate Judge she will:

  • Expand community education so every resident understands their rights

  • Improve access for seniors, individuals with mental health challenges, and residents throughout Charleston County

  • Maintain rigorous transparency and accountability in court finances and operations

  • Ensure timely, fair resolution of estates, guardianships, conservatorships, and mental health proceedings

  • Strengthen protections for vulnerable individuals

  • Build on the legacy of specialty courts that reflect a more compassionate approach to justice

Her commitment to Charleston County.

— ACCESS FOR ALL —

Too many Charleston County families struggle to access Probate Court services. Tamara is committed to expanding public education and ensuring every resident can navigate the court with dignity and clarity.

— TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY —

Public confidence in the justice system must be earned. Tamara's record demonstrates responsible stewardship, ethical leadership, and a consistent commitment to transparency.

— COMPASSIONATE SERVICE —

Probate Court handles grief, loss, and vulnerability. Tamara is committed to a court that is not only legally sound but humane in its approach — where families feel heard and supported.

— MODERN LEADERSHIP —

The court must evolve to meet community needs. Tamara helped establish South Carolina's first Mental Health Court and contributed to revising National Probate Court Standards.

— PEOPLE BEFORE POLITICS —

Probate Court decisions affect families and vulnerable residents. This role must stay focused on fairness, compassion, and professional excellence
