With more than two decades of experience inside the Probate Court system, Tamara Curry has earned the community’s trust through steady leadership, fairness, and responsible stewardship.
She is running for Probate Judge to ensure reliable court services, expand public education, and strengthen access for all Charleston County residents.
Meet Tamara
Tamara C. Curry is currently the owner of Palmetto Arbitration and Mediation Group. Previously she served as a Senior Attorney in the General Counsel’s Office with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health and Associate Probate Judge for Charleston County, where she served from 1998 to 2022. During her judicial tenure, she helped establish South Carolina’s first Mental Health Court and also presided over Adult Drug Court, Juvenile Drug Court, and Veterans Court.
Judge Curry earned her B.A. in Political Science from South Carolina State University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee College of Law. She is admitted to practice in Ohio and South Carolina.
In 2017, she became the first African American President of the National College of Probate Judges. She brings more than a decade of experience conducting workshops on sexual harassment and misconduct in ecclesiastical settings in the United States and South Africa, with specialized expertise in church law and governance.
She is actively engaged in numerous professional and civic organizations and is married to Reverend Eduardo K. Curry, Esquire. They have three children and five grandchildren.
