Charleston, SC - Today the Committee to Elect Tamara Curry Charleston County Probate Judge released a long list of prominent endorsements in advance of the March 30th candidate filing deadline.  Endorsers include a diverse group of community, political and business leaders throughout Charleston County.

The full list of endorsers can be found here.

Curry has served as Associate Probate Judge for Charleston County for the last 22 years and is the first African American to be president of the College of Probate Judges.

Curry says she is honored by today’s announcement. “As someone who has never run for political office before, I am very honored to have the support of such a large group of respected men and women in this county. Since announcing my candidacy last month, our campaign has grown leaps and bounds. We are energized, excited and looking forward to the challenges ahead,” Curry said.

Curry emphasized the importance of the Probate Court and its role in helping area residents. “Families often need the Probate Court in their most difficult times. The Probate Court guides people through the loss of loved ones, helps with caring for elderly family members, and family members with mental illness and drug addiction issues. We also help in happy times like marriages. It’s incredibly important that the Probate Judge is qualified, experienced and has a proven record of competence and level headedness,” Curry said.

Earlier this month, the Curry campaign committee reported raising nearly $25,000 in just a few weeks since her announcement.

Curry, an active member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and former chair of the YWCA of Greater Charleston Board, is married to Eduardo Curry. They have three children and three grandchildren.
